The renowned fantasy and science fiction writer China Mieville has long been inspired by the ideals of the Russian Revolution, and here, on the centenary of the revolution, he provides his own distinctive take on its history. It's about a middle aged woman who murders her ailing, elderly mother. Sebold is also the author of Lucky, an account of her own rape, and The Lovely Bones, about a 14-year-old girl looking down from heaven after her own rape and murder. The Lovely Bones is about to be made into a film directed by Peter Jackson.
