An unlikely love story of a Cree maiden from Canada's James Bay and a descendant of the first settlers of Northern Canada who came from the Orkneys of Scotland to work for the Hudson Bay Company 300 years ago. A bittersweet tale of love, redemption, wisdom, racist attitudes, and marginalization of Canada's First Nations women spanning 300 years into the present days of missing and murdered aboriginal women.

I wrote these poems incrementally, but collated, edited, and recorded them collectively. A process that was at first therapeutic and then brutally revealing. A lot of the pieces touch upon regret, lost possibilities, and missed opportunities born of trauma, neglect, mental illness, and fear, as well as the desperation that comes when you find yourself searching for hope inside of darkness.
