In a fog-wreathed London, the respected Dr Jekyll’s experiments on the dual nature of man unleash a brute that feels no moral restraint or remorse. Although excited by this freedom, Jekyll discovers that he is unable to control the power of his vicious alter ego and is faced with shameful discovery or ignominious death.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, narrated by Christian Neale, is a classic tale of good and evil, exploring the duality of human nature. Set against the eerie backdrop of foggy Victorian London, this psychological thriller delves into the life of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a well-respected scientist, who secretly unleashes his darker, violent alter-ego, Mr. Edward Hyde.

Representing the dark underbelly of Romanticism and beyond, these stories reach the shadowy corners of the human soul as seen through the writings of some of the most prominent authors of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

First published in 1885, Markheim blends crime, horror and the supernatural. The titular character, Markheim, visits an antiques dealer on Christmas Day to find a present for his beloved, but when the dealer’s back is turned, he stabs him to death and begins to ransack the shop for money. But he is disturbed by a spirit who knows all about Markheim’s life and forces him to consider his choices and the nature of good and evil.
