In this true story of adventure, author Jack Nisbet recreates the life and times of David Thompson—fur trader, explorer, surveyor, and mapmaker. From 1784 to 1812, Thompson explored western North America, and his field journals provide the earliest written accounts of the natural history and indigenous cultures of the what is now British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. Thompson was the first person to chart the entire route of the Columbia river, and his wilderness expeditions have become the stuff of legend.

Fireside Chats of Franklin Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt's complete fireside chats. FDR gave these occasional talks throughout his presidency, from 1933 to 1944, regarding the Great Depression, World War II, and a handful of other topics. It's not always easy to find these in their complete form, and a few were never recorded at all. However, the text exists, so I've gone ahead and recorded the missing parts myself. So here they are in their entirety. Hope you enjoy!

All of the Presidents' Weekly Addresses. From FDR's fireside chats to Reagan's "weekly radio address," to Biden's "weekly conversations." Enjoy this daily bite-sized piece of American history, from 1933 to today. A variety of different names, but all part of the same tradition of personal weekly messages from our Presidents to their citizens. Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama gave these almost every week, while Roosevelt, Bush Sr., Trump, and Biden were more sporadic, but they are all here. (Presidents from FDR to Reagan didn't give these addresses.) Enjoy, and have fun learning!
