A product of the latest technologies, Barliona is a virtual world brimming with fun and entertainment. The government has become the guarantor for the in-game currency, allowing its free circulation. As a result the population floods Barliona in pursuit of easy money. It doesn't take long for the game developers to discover a source of free labor: real-world prison convicts. While their bodies are locked in special auto-maintenance virtual capsules, the prisoners' minds are released into Barliona's virtual mines.

They lied, they lie, they will lie. This world is built on deception. The struggle for power in the detachment has begun. The parties and their leaders have been determined. The goal is power; the means are anything it takes. Our hero seems to have a couple of trump cards, but everyone is full of surprises in this world, both the Reaper and the shabby newcomer.

After the events of Tat'us Black, Jonx must help his friend, Highburren, gain a new shell so that she can complete her reincarnation. All the while, he needs to balance the demands of an all-powerful August Celestial who has their own agenda. He will learn firsthand that the Dragon from Dusk till Dawn is an exacting taskmaster. Jonx will need to rise to the occasion to live up to the Celestial's uncompromising standards. If he can't, then he'll not only be letting down a friend who sacrificed themselves to save him, but he may just find himself vaporized in a feud between Celestials.
