When they are left in the woods by their parents, two children find their way home despite an encounter with a wicked witch.

"If a wolf should come out of the forest, then what would you do?" These are the words of Peter's grandfather from Prokofiev's much loved musical fairy tale, Peter and the Wolf, which here is wonderfully narrated by Sir David Attenborough. This story introduces children to the magic of an orchestra through the tale of a clever young boy who, with the help of some animal friends, outwits a very hungry wolf.

The book begins when Weyden's ship sinks in San Francisco harbor. Rescued by Larson, Weyden is forced to serve as cook's scullion. Larson's heads for the Bering Sea where Van Weyden finds human cruelty matched only by nature but he also finds something else when a young lady is also rescued by Larson.

Classic Grimm Brothers, this tale follows seven young goats that do their best to follow "Mama's" advice while she is away, but wolves can be so devious. The wolf apparently failed to read the script first or he might not have chosen to confront the goats.

A man is rescued at sea by the overbearing captain of a hunting schooner. Initially, the captain treats the survivor with a reasonable amount of dignity, unlike how he treats the rest of the crew. Later, another survivor is brought aboard and is a woman and the two survivors eventually escape the ship and find themselves on an island of seals. The captain's brother takes vengeance on the captain for prior misdeeds and the captain soon finds himself on adrift only to land on Seal Island as well.
