私が噺家になったのが1974年3月。そこで、2004年5月16日に国立演芸場で「てなわけで30年・桂扇生独演会」を開催し「柳田格之進」というお噺をしました。それを録音したのがこのオーディオブックです。この独演会の為に覚えた噺で、この日がネタ下ろしです。柳田格之進は近江国(江州)彦根藩の家臣。曲がった事が大嫌いと言う正直者。それなのに、と言うかそれゆえに浪人になってしまうと言う苦難の人生。江戸の碁会所で知り合った質屋の主人・萬屋源兵衛と親しくなるが、ここでも騒動に巻き込まれて・・。武士にとっての「家名」とは、かくも大事なものか。嗚呼。この噺には合点のいかないところがいくつかあります。そこを修正していって、後に内容を少し変えました。

私が噺家になったのが1974年3月。そこで、2004年5月16日に国立演芸場で「てなわけで30年・桂扇生独演会」を開催し「青菜」というお噺をしました。それを録音したのがこのオーディオブックです。この噺に出てくる植木屋さん。出入りしているお屋敷の旦那と奥様のやり取りを聞いて、「これは洒落てる」と真似をします。でも、単に真似をするだけでは、上手くいきません。でも、それに付き合ってくれるおかみさんはいい人ですね。お互いに言いたい事を言い合ってますが、とっても仲のいい夫婦なんですね。私は理想の夫婦だと思っています。さて、噺の中に「なおし」と言う酒が出てきます。焼酎を味醂で割って冷やしたものです。今で言えば、カクテルですね。よろしかったらお試しあれ。
