Threadbare has not had a very good time of it recently. His little girl has been taken from him, and he must travel the kingdom, finding allies old and new, living and dead, to help him rescue Celia. Fortunately, he's got a voice now and access to all those fun skills he couldn't before use. Desperate to make a difference, Kera doubles down on using her abilities to help others.

When the enemy is a blood-magic-wielding Orthodoxy, most private detectives allow someone else to deal with the problem. Not Kera MacDonagh! Unfortunately, she is presently dealing with a relationship that tries her patience. Her mother! Can she finish just one trip without one of them hurting the other or Kera becoming a raging alcoholic?
