Andy's verjaardag staat voor de deur en zijn oude speelgoed is doodsbang dat het nieuwe speelgoed, dat hij ongetwijfeld cadeau zal krijgen, interessanter zal zijn dan zij. De enige die kalm blijft is Woody. Woody kan het zich namelijk niet voorstellen dat een ander stuk speelgoed Andy's lievelingspop zou kunnen worden. Wanneer Woody Buzz per ongeluk uit een open raam duwt, moet hij een gevaarlijke missie ondernemen om hem te redden... maar misschien leren ze onderweg allebei wel het een en ander over vriendschap.

Woody is Andy's speelgoed en niets ter wereld is belangrijker voor hem dan dat.
