No one in her sixth-grade class knows quite what to make of Ms. Loupe, with her short hair, her taped square "stage" on the floor, and her interest in improvisational theatre. After all, their school is on an Air Force base - a place that values discipline more than improv. But her students soon come to love her fresh approach; and when her dear brother goes missing in Afghanistan, and Ms. Loupe herself breaks down, they band together to support their teacher.

Se a scuola sei così sfigato che non ti nota nessuno, diventi praticamente invisibile. Ma per gli aspiranti investigatori Edoardo, Matteo, Lucia e Matilde non c'è un'arma migliore dell'invisibilità - e delle loro nerdissime capacità! - per indagare sull'omicidio della signorina Lolli: la prof di teatro che per la recita scolastica aveva riesumato un vecchio testo andato in scena una sola volta, sessant'anni prima, e da allora considerato maledetto...

Al Teatro Rossini di Pesaro si prova "La gazza ladra"; il teatro è aperto alle scuole, e così quella mattina Cecilia, Chiara e Giovanni, anziché in classe dietro i banchi, si ritrovano seduti in platea. Mentre sul palco si svolge lo spettacolo, i ragazzi lasciano i loro posti e si mettono a girovagare per i corridoi deserti: nessuno dei tre può immaginare lo strano incontro che li attende dietro la porta del palco 25. Sarà quell'incontro fuori programma a farli entrare a mano a mano nel mondo di Rossini, delle sue opere e delle messe in scena, e a svelare loro tutto il fascino del teatro.
