Max’s village is absolutely normal in every single way and on every single day—except Wednesday. Wednesdays ist düster, kalt und emotionslos. Dieses Verhalten, und das Quälen ihrer Mitschüler hat die Eltern dazu veranlasst, sie auf eine besondere Schule zu schicken: Die Nevermore Academy. Eigenartige Briefe werden vor Wednesdays Zimmertür abgelegt. Handelt es sich hierbei um einen dummen Streich oder doch um einen heimlichen Verehrer? Dann kommt noch dazu das Wednesday bald Geburtstag hat und sie hasst ihren Geburtstag. Niemand und vor allem Enid darf nicht davon erfahren.

Wednesday muss an einem Austauschprogramm einer Normi-Schule teilnehmen. Dafür muss sie für einen Tag diese Schule besuchen. Eigentlich hat sie gar keine Lust aber ihre Sachen wurden bereits gepackt. Als Wednesday wieder in ihrer gewohnten Umgebung ist, ist Enid verschwunden. Sie macht sich große Sorgen und stellt die ganze Schule auf den Kopf. Dann wird auch noch eine neue Schulordnung verordnet. Alle Schüler sind dazu verpflichtet die neuen Uniformen zu tragen.

Merkwürdige Ereignisse passieren auf der Nevermore Academy. Die Schüler tauschen unter einander die Körper aus, es verschwinden Gegenstände und ein Feuer bricht aus! Muss die Nevermore jetzt schließen? Die Schüler können so nicht weiterlernen.

Da Wednesday keine Farben tragen kann, hat sie eine etwas andere Schuluniform bekommen. Statt in den schulfarben blau und schwarz, trägt sie die in schwarz und grau. Das sie immer eine extra Wurst bekommt, nervt Bianca total. Es wird Zeit ihr eines auszuwischen.
