President William Henry Harrison died after only thirty-one days in office, the shortest term served by any American president. A celebrated military hero who had defeated Native American tribes at the Battle of Tippecanoe, Harrison delivered an inaugural address that lasted nearly two hours.

Harrison's Inaugural address was also his last, coming just weeks before he succumbed to pneumonia. In it he memorializes America's special place in the world while describing how its management by Congress and the government can solve existing problems.

Murray (1840-1904) was a sometime clergyman, journalist, and purveyor of the outdoor life.
