Aliens ripped a hole above Earth, arriving with a massive space station. I sorta figured we'd be enslaved to fight in their wars or exterminated for our resources. Nope. The hip-high Iglax were merchants with ugly squished faces and thick blue fur. While they weren't much to look at, they sure did have some wonderous technology. Humanity bent over backwards to appease our new merchant overlords. The boorish aliens wanted cheap labor for precious metals, and honestly, I didn't blame anyone for their hunger to be among the stars.

The small weak League of Losers has truly lived up to its name—after all, it managed to make a slew of powerful, very dangerous enemies right from the start. It is now time for Sergeant and Whiskers, his ginger kitten, to leave the sandbox for the big world. The players have leveled up enough to pass through the barrier enclosing the sandbox, but, as luck would have it, it isn't the best time to make their escape. A bitterly cold winter is drawing near, and nobody is ready for it.

He owes the Merchant Marines, Pavia, and humanity itself to do more, to be more. So when life is turned upside down again, he ventures back into the stars, helping those he can, when he can. The adventure is intense, his family bonds are tight, and the dangers ever-present.

Gnat the Devourer is becoming a more prominent figure in grand space politics. Sure, he may not be totally independent yet, but he has enough leeway to be able to differentiate Earth's interests from those of its Geckho suzerains and act exclusively for the good of his own kind. Gnat must balance obligations to his almighty suzerains against a desire to advance humanity's position in space, and his home planet's search for ever more allies.

The Iglax Star Empire’s tried twice now to throttle this upstart species before they could expand beyond Sol. They once used humans for cheap mining, cheap labor, and cheap laughs. But with each attempt, humanity’s gotten stronger, spread across more star systems, and found new allies. Now the Iglax are preparing for war.

It was Chris Alan's very first day of seventh grade. That's hard. It's bad. No child should be asked to do such an awful thing. Humiliation, embarrassment, and social isolation await him. Then, of all days, the aliens decide to launch their conquest of Earth. So, along with Chris's preteen angst, he gets aerial bombardment, and then vicious insectile aliens pile out of their ships and start killing humans in earnest. What a rotten first day of class!

I'm not saying I've thoroughly enjoyed the three years I've spent in captivity on a pleasure planet, shaking my money-maker for intergalactic patrons… but, I mean, it hasn't been all bad. The jelly donuts were a perk. Granted, I didn't really know what I was signing up for when I agreed to be purchased by the sexy pink shark-man, but things seem to be looking up.

Space is a dangerous place. Here, you're either a predator or soon to fall prey to a ruthless neighbor. And if you aren't tough enough to make it on your own, you'll need the backing of a formidable power to keep you safe from bigger fish. Earth used to have such protection—the great Geckho race. But unfortunately, the Geckho fell to an enemy onslaught, leaving planet Earth to fend for itself. And now, Earth humanity has precious little time to prove to their galactic neighbors that they are not to be trifled with.

Our hero Chris Alan has been in some tight situations, to be sure. Hostile alien invasion, daring rescues of his friends, and trials by the insane kidnapper. But now he's marooned alone on the most hostile planet in the galaxy with no food, water, communication equipment, or spaceship. It couldn't look any bleaker. All he has to do is pull off another miracle with absolutely no resources or reasonable hope of survival. Just another day in the life of a teenage boy. Same old, same old, right?
