Un jour de ramadan, Monsieur Tazi et sa fille Kenza racontent au jeune Louis et à sa sœur Chloé l'histoire de Mahomet à qui la parole de Dieu fut révélée, en 610, par l'ange Jibril, également connu sous le nom d'ange Gabriel. Ils décrivent aussi les 5 piliers de l'islam que sont la profession de foi, la prière, l'aumône, le jeûne du ramadan et le pèlerinage à La Mecque.

Louis, accompagné de sa maman, retrouve son copain Somchaï, un jeune novice franco-thaï, lors de son ordination dans un temple thaïlandais. Jean est le fils de Zacharie et d' Élisabeth, cousine de la Vierge Marie. C'est l'archange Gabriel qui avait annoncé à Élisabeth la future naissance de Jean. Devenu adulte, il se retire dans le désert sur les bords du Jourdain et se consacre entièrement à la prière. Il est rejoint par de nombreux disciples auxquels il annonce la venue de Jésus qu'il baptisera peu après.

Noble espagnol, François-Xavier étudie à Paris où il rencontre Ignace de Loyola. Ils fondent ensemble la Compagnie de Jésus (dont les membres sont mieux connus sous le nom de Jésuites). Puis François-Xavier s'embarque pour les Indes où, pendant plus de dix ans, il convertira les populations locales. Son désir de faire connaître Jésus-Christ est si grand qu'il projette d'aller en Chine, mais il meurt avant d'y accoster.
