كتاب في التصوف يشرح كيفية التوكل التام على الله وترك التدبير الدنيوي، موضحاً أن الوصول إلى الله يتطلب الاستسلام التام لله وترك منازعة المقادير. يستدل الكاتب بآيات من القرآن والأحاديث وأقوال الأئمة لدعم حججه، مؤكداً أن التدبير المذموم هو الذي يكون فيه حظ النفس هو الغاية، بينما التدبير المحمود هو ما يقرب إلى الله.

هيَّأت ظروف الجزيرة العربية لظهور الإسلام؛ فكانت كالتي تنتظر مولودها، فما لبث أن انتشر الدين الجديد بسرعةٍ غير متوقَّعة بعدما عانى نبيُّه من التضييق والمحاربة. ويتطرق «طه حسين» إلى المراحل التي مرت بها الدعوة الجديدة منذ بزوغها حتى استطاع النبي بناء دولته بالمدينة ونعِم المسلمون بالاستقرار في عهده وعهد خليفتيه «أبي بكر» و«عمر». غير أن الأمور ساءت كثيرًا بعد ذلك؛ فكانت فتنة مقتل «عثمان» كالشرارة التي أحرقت الأخضر واليابس. وما يميز «طه حسين» أنه لا يكتفي بالعرض فقط، وإنما يحلل الأحداث الكبرى ولا سيما الفتن والثورات، بحيث يخلع عليها أسبابًا تبدو منطقية من وجهة نظره؛ فعزا ثورتي «الزنج...

هو عمل تأسيسي في الدراسات العربية الحديثة، يتكون من سلسلة محاضرات ألقيت في عام 1908م في الجامعة المصرية. يتناول الكتاب تاريخ الحضارة الإسلامية من بدايتها حتى سقوط الدولة العثمانية، ويركز على دور الإسلام في توحيد العرب ونبض الحضارة لديهم، وتناول أيضاً الكتابة والحفظ والتدوين. يهدف إلى إزالة الغبار عن الحضارة الإسلامية وإظهار قوتها الأصلية، كما يعالج أسباب أفولها، مع التركيز على الأسس التي قامت عليها.

عقب قراءة أحد تلامذة الإمام رشيد رضا للمقالات التي كان يكتبها أمير البيان «شكيب أرسلان» في الجرائد العربية، ورؤيته لما تلقته هذه المقالات من صدى واسع واهتمام كبير لدى القراء، أرسل إلى أستاذه الإمام يتساءل؛ لماذا لا يكتب شكيب أرسلان عن أسباب تأخر المسلمين وتقدم غيرهم، خاصة أن للأمير رؤية تاريخية واسعة، ومعرفة حضارية كبيرة، وخبرة سياسية لا يستهان بها، ما يجعل تشخيصه للمحنة التاريخية تشخيصًا دقيقًا، وبالفعل أرسل رشيد رضا بتلك الرسالة إلى الأمير شكيب أرسلان، فما كان منه إلا أن استجاب لهذا المطلب فأفاض وأفاد.

عبرَ سَبْعٍ وثلاثينَ حَلْقةً مختلِفة؛ يأخذُنا رائدُ أدبِ الطفلِ «كامل كيلاني» في رحلةٍ شائِقةٍ للتعرُّفِ على السِّيرةِ النبويَّةِ العَطِرة، بتسلسُلٍ زمنيٍّ وبأسلوبٍ قَصصيٍّ فريد، تَأْتِي على لسانِ الأصدقاءِ الثلاثة: «سعيدٍ» و«صلاحٍ» و«رشاد»، في حوارٍ مُمتِع.‎ انتَهى «رشاد» في المرةِ السابقةِ عِندَ قصةِ إِسلامِ عُمر، ومِن هُنا انطلَقَ في استِكمالِ ما بدَأَه؛ فأوضَحَ كيفَ تحوَّلتْ دعوةُ النبيِّ ...

يتجاوز التصوف كونه مجرد مذهب، كما يشير إليه البعض، فتلك إشارة مختزلة، فالتصوف فطرة إنسانية توجد في التراث الإنساني عبر التاريخ، فهو رؤية معرفية تنزع إلى ملامسة الحقائق العميقة في الكون، فالمتصوف ينظر إلى الكون بعين القلب؛ لذلك يرتبط التصوف أشد الارتباط بالأدب والفن، وتركز هذه الرؤية المعرفية على المعاني الذاتية والباطنية للأشياء وتتعالى على قواعد الإدراك الحسي والاستدلال الاستقرائي، وهذا الكتاب يهبط بنا إلى منحنى أكثر خصوصية إذ يناقش الخبرة الحضارية الإسلامية في هذه الرؤية ويستعرضها بحس نقدي بارع.
