A BBC radio collection of full-cast dramatisations, bringing together Edith Wharton’s most popular and best-loved works. 

This new comedy show, written by Jeremy Front (writer of the Charles Paris mysteries for Radio 4) and starring Jeremy Front and Rebecca Front as Jack & Millie Lemman - an older couple who are fully engaged with contemporary life whilst being at war with the absurdities of the modern world.... The show also features Millie’s frenemy Shirley, played by Tracy-Ann Oberman; Jack’s all-too-easygoing friend Harry (Nigel Lindsay); their high-pressure son Melvin (Harry Peacock); and their high-maintenance (and Catholic) (and French) daughter-in-law Delphine (Jenny Bede).

University dropout and would-be novelist Johnny Street and his worker-of-the-world mate Arthur Lane are the odd-couple partners in a one-horse, two-man family building firm (slogan: ‘Up Your Street, Down Your Lane’). Together, they travel the Yorkshire suburbs in their white van, tackling tricky household repairs with their unique combination of art and craft.

Meet Alice (Rebecca Front) - a former child prodigy who won a place at Oxford aged nine, but because Daddy went too she never needed to have any friends. She's scared of everything - everything that is, except libraries and Snoo (Morwenna Banks), a slightly confused individual, with a have-a-go attitude to life, marriage, haircuts and reality. In One Flat Summer, newly redundant clothing salesman Ken Warburton finds himself adrift and drawn into the serious world of gambling after a good win at Newmarket. He has big plans, but what of the cost at home? In the sequel, Sharing Fatman, Margaret disapproves of her husband Ken's gambling on horses and takes the reins to find an absorbing new hobby to fill their retirement. But she ends up throwing caution to the wind when they make a connection with Mr Fatman at the horse sales.
