There are many ships to explore and much activity when we arrive on the docks of Oostende; announcers, marching bands, and battle-ship reenactments fill our senses. Preserving a California nature preserve.... Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the Rodman Nature Preserve with preserve guides. The Rodman preserve is next to Clear Lake, the largest freshwater lake completely within California.

The story of an enslaved African American. Booker T. Washington was an author, an educator, an orator and political leader, and one of history's most influential African Americans. One if his more remembered quotes is: “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.” He titled his autobiography Up from Slavery.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the countryside near Muenster, including a 300-year-old Westphalia village that has been reconstructed. Houses, barns, buildings, and artifacts from the time make it seem as if people will be returning from their fields soon.

Outside of Muenster, we visit a unique project: a biotope, an important sanctuary for hundreds of thousands of birds. We enter a bird blind with Dr. Hans Schutz, the man in charge of the biotope.

Wildthings and Vision Quest Ranch is home to elephants, tigers, and other wild animals from around the world. Guests can get up close and interact with and care for some of the animals. Patricia Lawrence is exploring Wildthings with foundering president Charlie Sammut.

Audio Journeys explores the (disputed) headwaters of the Mississippi River with park rangers. A trail takes us to a spring coming out of the ground in the Minnesota mountains. The spring forms a pool before gliding from the rocks to become the mighty Mississippi River, most people believe. Itasca is a derivative of two Greek words that mean "true" and "source".

Audio Journeys explores the life of L. Frank Baum, author of some of the world's most beloved children's books, including The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Baum was born near Syracuse, New York, in 1856. We meet Baum historian Kathleen De Scenna at Ste. Marie Among the Iroquois on Onondaga Lake near Syracuse. She considers Baum to be a visionary.

Monterrico, Guatemala, lies along the Pacific Coast of Guatemala. For centuries, turtles have used the narrow strip of black sand beach as the perfect incubator for their fragile eggs. Today, competition with human activities threaten some of the world's last remaining turtles.

Lake Tahoe, situated in both California and Nevada, is the largest alpine lake in North America, and the second deepest lake in the USA. Patricia Lawrence is exploring California's Lake Tahoe, first from a charter fishing boat, then the shore, and we wrap up at a history museum.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area at the base of the Cascade and Klamath mountain ranges. At Whiskeytown, a few miles west of Redding, California, we meet naturalist guide Steve Zachary. Zachary is dedicating his life to preserving the web of life on earth. His life's work includes learning about, and then teaching others of all ages about, how to protect the web through education and legislation.

We arrive in San Jose from a small boat across Lake Petén Itzá. There are few roads into the region. This quiet lakeside hill town has a Mayan and Spanish Language School. After a pleasant walk up the hill from the school, we find botanists preserving the traditional Mayan medicinal plants in gardens where signs help visitors with identification.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the 200-year-old village of Potsdam, New York, where Clarkson University was founded by two Clarkson sisters, to honor their brother who died young. Today, Clarkson is one of the world's leading electrical engineering universities. Nanotechnology is being developed and studied there.
