Auf dem Planeten Pollux 4, 40 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt, hat Zordak, der Weltraumpirat, seinen Stützpunkt. Von hier aus kontrolliert er mit seinem Schlachtschiff "Black Dragon" eine Reihe von Welten, die er zum Teil unterworfen hat, zum Teil immer wieder ausplündert. Die beiden auf der Erde schon für tot erklärten Raumfahrer Perry Cooper und Tom Morton verweilen zurzeit auf der Juwelenwelt Zetari und sind im Dienste der Prinzessin Byra tätig. Diese rechnet damit, dass Zordak alles versuchen wird Terra und Zetari zu vernichten.

Man stelle sich folgendes Szenario mit unvorstellbarer Tragweite vor: Der Mond hat seine Umlaufbahn abgebrochen und entfernt sich mit zunehmender Geschwindigkeit von der Erde.
