The Way of Life According to Laotzu is a poetic and highly accessible translation of the Dao De Jing ( Tao Te Ching). In these 81 brief passages, the ancient Chinese sage lays down a philosophical, socio-political, personal view of the universe and guide for action that has inspired generations around the world for centuries.

Lao Zi is believed to have been born in 604, during the Chou Dynasty. Little is known of his life and there is some speculation that he was mythical.

The Yin Chih Wen, or Tract of the Quiet Way, is a religio-ethical tract which was very popular in the Middle Kingdom, but never attained the celebrity of similar texts, such as the Tao Te Ching. This recording is of the first known English translation, which was made by the eminent Buddhist scholars, D. T. Suzuki and Paul Carus.
