Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little, later Malik el-Shabazz; May 19, 1925-February 21, 1965) was an American Muslim minister and human rights activist who was a prominent figure during the civil rights movement of the 1950s and '60s. A spokesman for the Nation of Islam until 1964, he was a vocal advocate for Black empowerment and the promotion of Islam within the Black community.

Frederick Douglass, born into slavery in Maryland in 1818, became one of the most prominent abolitionists, orators, and writers in American history. Christabel Harriette Pankhurst (September 22, 1880-February 13, 1958) was a British suffragette born in Manchester, England. A co-founder of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU)—and daughter of women's suffrage movement leader Emmeline Pankhurst and radical socialist Richard Pankhurst—she directed its militant actions from exile in France from 1912 to 1913.
