Auf diesem Fußmarsch, "Schwejks Budweiser Anabasis", gelangt er nach einigen Abenteuern nach Putim, wo er von einem Wachtmeister für einen Spion gehalten wird. Von einem schwer betrunkenen Postenführer wird Schwejk beim Rittmeister in Písek abgeliefert, der ihn zu seinem Regiment nach Budweis zurückschickt.
