Eric Huffman, author of 40 Days of Doubt, helps listeners understand and cope with confusion about the Bible and provides answers to questions by reframing it as a perfect and seamless story. Huffman illustrates how the Bible, even the parts some consider ungodly, presents the beautiful story that God intended to tell. Through storytelling from his own experiences and his take on Bible stories, Huffman helps listeners understand the Bible by interpreting the entire book through the lens of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

The books of Genesis, Jubilees and Jasher contain largely the same narrative, with the Genesis account of the Bible ending roughly at Jubilees 46:8 and at Jasher 59:28. However, the latter two books also include several striking deviations from Genesis which are quite revealing from a biblical...

The God of the Old Testament commanded and endorsed many practices that we find morally reprehensible today. High on the list was the institution of slavery, which features prominently in several sections of the Hebrew Bible. Fathers could sell their daughters into slavery; masters could beat their slaves; creditors could carry off children for failure to repay a debt; and foreigners could be kept for life, passed down as inherited property. How are we to make sense of all of this from our modern point of view?

Andrew Jukes (1815-1901) was an English theologian and deacon of St. John's Church, Hull. The Names of God in Holy Scripture (1888) examines the Old and New Testaments to find and interpret the names of the Lord.

People regularly give certain reasons for not believing in God, but they are much less aware of what the New Testament actually teaches. Although challenges to Christianity are perennial and have frequently been addressed, they are noticeably more common today and are currently of particular interest among evangelicals.

Before Harriet Tubman or Martin Luther King was identified with Moses, African Americans identified those who challenged racial oppression in America with Samson. In Black Samson: The Untold Story of an American Icon, Nyasha Junior and Jeremy Schipper tell the story of how this biblical character became an icon of African American literature.

Was ist Glaube?

Many Christians mistakenly believe that their only choice is either to reconcile themselves to a fundamentalist reading of scripture (a "literal-factual" approach) or to simply reject the Bible as something that could bring meaning and value into their lives. In Reading the Bible Again for the First Time, Marcus Borg shows how instead we can freshly appreciate all the essential elements of the Old and New Testaments - from Genesis to Revelation - in a way that can open up a new world of intelligent faith.

The Book of Revelation is probably the most frightening and perplexing book of the New Testament. Full of signs and symbols, predictions and warnings, it speaks of extraordinary times marked by falling stars, a bloodcovered moon, the collapse of empires, and widespread havoc. Such hyper-dramatic language characterizes all apocalyptic literature. Fr. Alfred McBride, O. Praem. sets the record straight with an authentic Catholic interpretation of the Book of Revelation. He gives you three keys to understanding the Book of Revelation.

Horatius Bonar’s exegesis of the Old Testament is a voluminous work of 84 chapters. It deals with passages from the book of Genesis to the book of Malachi, covering themes like sin, despair, holiness, blessing, and deliverance.

From beginning to end, the very structure of the Gospel of Matthew emphasizes that Jesus is the son of God. At climactic points, Jesus is so identified - by Peter, by a Roman centurion, by Jesus himself, and by God the Father. With The Gospel of the Son of God, David Bauer provides a comprehensive introduction to this Gospel that has been so foundational to the Christian church. Arguing that the nature of Matthew itself should provide us with the framework for its study, he presents a holistic inductive approach with a literary, theological, and canonical focus.

Clarence Larkin (1850-1924) was a pastor in Pennsylvania before he wrote books like The Spirit World and Dispensational Truth. Larkin explains and interprets every statement in the Book of Revelation with reference to earlier books of the Bible. He often refers to the Book of Daniel for the key to the meaning in Revelation.
