Fico ainda mais surpreso ao saber que, mesmo diante de inúmeras descobertas arqueológicas e dos mais importantes e atuais avanços nas pesquisas bíblicas, o texto de Calvino continua provocando, instruindo e libertando as mentes para o entendimentodas verdades de Deus.

A soma de quase todo nosso conhecimento - que se deve julgar de fato como verdadeiro e sólido conhecimento - se compõe de duas partes: O conhecimento de Deus e o conhecimento de nós mesmos. Como, porém, essas duas formas de conhecimento se entrelaçam com muitos elos, não é fácil, entretanto, discernir qual delesvem primeiro e dá origem ao outro. Por outro lado, é notório que o homem jamais chega ao puro conhecimento de si mesmo, se antes não contemplar a face de Deus e, da visão de Deus, descer ao exame de si mesmo.

Er ist einer der Gebrüder Grimm der damaligen Zeit, der sammeln geht, eine Geschichte nach der anderen schreibt und sie konzeptionell damit verbindet, dass zu Lebzeiten nicht rauskommen durfte wer Jesus ist. Bei Markus sollte den Leuten erst im Nachhinein bewusst werden, wer da eigentlich über die Welt gegangen ist.
