In großer Offenheit erzählt Alice Schwarzer von dem, was sie geprägt hat – und was sie daraus gemacht hat...

Over the course of three years, Alice Oswald recorded conversations with people who live and work on the River Dart in Devon. Using these records and voices as a sort of poetic census, she creates in Dart a narrative of the river, tracking its life from source to sea.

As a young lady waits for the subway, the roar of an approaching train becomes a very different kind of roar - and the train becomes a creature of quicksilver and flames. It could be a case of nerves, or a trick of the lighting in a dark, deserted rail station. Or it could be the defiant cry of a creature older than humanity.

From best-selling author Alice Hoffman comes a love story about one of history’s most captivating ‘invisible’ women: Rachel, the mother of impressionist painter Camille Pissarro. Growing up on idyllic St. Thomas in the early 1800s, Rachel dreams of life in faraway Paris. Rachel’s mother, a pillar of their small refugee community of Jews who escaped the Inquisition, has never forgiven her daughter for being a difficult girl who refuses to live by the rules.

They are off to a raucous start in these classic early episodes, co-starring Elliott Lewis as the unforgettable Frankie Remley! Stunts, gags, and over-the-top shenanigans are enabled by the diabolical delivery boy Julius Abbruzio (played by the delightful Walter Tetley). Cameo appearances are provided by Gale Gordon, Frank Nelson, Mel Blanc, and the dashing Robert Taylor.

Hollywood glamour meets handsome goofball. Jack Benny's irrepressible bandleader and his winsome wife star in this classic sitcom - raising their two daughters, and raising their voices…and, not just to sing. With a wise-guy sensibility that sounds positively contemporary, the chemistry between Phil Harris and Elliott Lewis (as Frankie Remley) is pitch-perfect. They click in a comic rhythm reminiscent of Jackie Gleason and Art Carney. Add Walter Tetley to the mix (as smart-alecky grocery boy Julius Abbruzio), and the results are glorious.

The man who invented shock rock tells the amazing and, yeah, shocking story of how he slayed his thirsty demons–with a golf club. It started one day when Cooper was watching a Star Trek rerun between concerts, bored and drunk on a quart-of-whiskey-a-day habit; a friend dragged the rocker out...

Extreme characterizations, extreme scripts, extremely funny! The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show set the pace for all-out comedy as the Golden Age of Radio moved into its latter days, with Jack Benny's wavy-haired bandleader, his long-suffering movie-star wife, and his no-account guitar-playing buddy caught up in outlandish predicaments every week. Aided and abetted by some of radio's outstanding character actors, Phil and Alice's adventures will always leave you laughing!

In a comic whirlwind of high style, La Bête tells the story of Elomire, a 17th century French playwright, and his touring acting troupe who have come to lead the high life due to the patronage of the fickle Prince of Conti. Sparks fly when Valere, a swaggering braggert with delusions of artistic grandeur, becomes the Prince's choice to join Elomire's troupe. It is a battle of wits and witticisms as the two face off in this outrageous commentary on the nature of art and the artist in society.
