Life has taught me that I can't trust anyone. Not friends, not family. In the worst, darkest moments, no one can be counted on to have your back. Even a billion miles away from Earth, on a remote icy planet, I still feel alone. The only consolation? I haven't resonated. It's not that I don't want love or children. I just can't trust anyone, even myself.

The crew of the pirate ship, the Lovesick Fool, are worried about their navigator, Sentorr. He's obsessed with working, spending all his time on the bridge. It's not work the big blue alien is truly obsessed with, though. It's a female. Sentorr's convinced that Zoey, a female navigator on another pirate ship, is his mate. She won't show him her face, though, or agree to meet him. She's happy to have steamy, late-night conversations with him over comm channels, though.  

When I'm rescued by space pirates, they tell me I'm safe. I'm told I can be myself again, get as angry as I want, laugh and cry and scream all I need. I don't believe them, of course. I certainly don't believe Alyvos, the "muscle" of the pirate ship. Everyone says he likes nothing more than a good fight, but to me, he's kind and protective. How can I fear someone who holds me tenderly through the night and has fuzzy skin? But my pirate wants more from me than I'm ready to give. He wants my fiery spirit...and I'm not sure it's there anymore.  

I've ruined everything. I had a mate. Resonance. Happiness. But then T'chai's attacked by ravenous sky-claw and almost killed. To help him recover, I tell the healer to turn off our unfulfilled resonance. It's temporary...or so I think. Big mistake. Because now my khui acts like it's dead and it hates T'chai. But I still love him. How do we move forward when I can't bear his touch? Is there a way to get back our happiness together, or is it time to give up on what we once had? T'chai has other plans, though.

In dangerous Fort Dallas, Rachel is untouchable. All she has to do is hand over her panties every day. Sure, it's weird, but it keeps her safe, right? And if there's a reason behind it, she doesn't care. Until she finds out that she's dragon bait. That changes things.

S'bren doesn't realize what a mess he's stepping in when he steals me away. He just wants to resonate. Sweet, right? But his methods are all wrong and resonance doesn't look as if it's happening anytime soon for either of us. So I'm going to use this time away from the camp as an opportunity. We're going to go exploring and not return to the beach camp until I'm good and ready. It's one part punishment for him - being my guide - and one part adventure for me. We'll have fun, swing from some vines in the fruit cave, and then return to Icehome when we're good and ready.

As a pirate, I tend to hang out with unsavory outcasts at the edges of the known universe. I'm used to running into thieves, assassins, and fugitives. It shouldn't surprise me to see a forbidden human female for sale in the tunnels of the space station, but I hate it. When I see she's near death, I have to act. I buy her. She spits in my face. It's love at first sight. At least, it's love at first sight on my end. I know it can never be, though, because I'm an ugly beast of an alien to her. The enemy.

Life on a farm planet at the edge of the universe can be dangerous for a human woman alone. That's why I need a husband. Any husband. Unfortunately, all the men I approach keep running off. So I hire a bounty hunter to kidnap me someone capable and strong, someone who will scare off the creeps who are trying to move in on my territory. It'll be a marriage of convenience only. I should have been a little more specific about who I wanted, though....

The three va Sithai brothers - that's us - cruise the universe looking for abandoned ships, treasure, and other pirate ships to rob. Right now, we're on the hunt for the Buoyant Star, an abandoned cruiser rumored to have a massive treasure inside. The ship's been found at the edge of an ice field at the far reaches of space. That treasure? About to be all ours. But the ship's not all that abandoned. The Star is crewed by a few lonely, attractive human females who are thoroughly grateful at being rescued. Actually, wait. They're not grateful at all. 

Simone loves a good opportunity. When she sees that there's a hole in the market on Risda III for a bakery, she steps in to fill the void. With a cart full of fresh baked goods, she rakes in the credits. Who cares if she doesn't know the difference between a biscuit and a babka? She's got hustle and a winning smile. Ruth-Ann cares. She cares a lot.

It's been a few years since I've landed here on Icehome Beach, and as resonance after resonance dwindled the list of bachelors, I knew who I'd end up with. As soon as we got past our differences, I'd end up as R'jaal's mate. On an everyday excursion, however, my khui decides otherwise. It sings all right...but not to R'jaal. Instead, I resonate to I'rec—the forceful, brash, overly-alpha leader of Shadow Cat. Did I mention he's got a long-distance girlfriend already?
