Four jackets of varying weights, enough socks for the entire Confederate Army, three umbrellas, most of the antacid aisle from the local pharmacy, and six pairs of old-people sneakers that all look exactly the same. Have you ever helped your parents pack for a weeklong cruise? No? I didn't think so. So shut it. So begins vacation for Summer Hartwell - 26 years old, living with her anxiety-ridden parents, and unwillingly booked by her brother on a weeklong cruise to Bermuda.

After calling off her fall wedding, horror novelist Amy Fox is left with a broken heart, a mega case of writer's block, and a serious aversion to all things pumpkin spice. When she receives news that her grandfather has broken his wrist driving through a Dunkin Donuts - literally straight through the front windows - 500 miles away, in her hometown of Autumnboro, New Hampshire, Amy has no choice but to return to check on him. If she doesn't make sure that he's back on his feet, Grandpa may be moved into assisted living, and Amy's beloved childhood home will be put on the market.  

Bored administrative assistant, Tessa Golden, is trapped in a life of lousy weather, irritating bosses, and mind-numbing secretarial work. Her dreams of being an artist have rapidly deteriorated into building things out of paperclips while on hold with tech support. To make matters even worse, the love of her life has gone off and married another woman.

For Summer Hartwell, holding her and Graham's wedding 1,000 miles from home seemed like a good idea. Even if it is at a retirement community.
