Am Stadtrand steht ein denkmalgeschützes Haus, dem Verfall anheim gegeben. Zwei Frauen treffen dort aufeinander, sie könnten kaum unterschiedlicher sein: Anna, die der Enge eines geregelten Lebens entflohen ist, und Valentina, eine heimatlose Künstlerin. Aus Faszination wird schnell Anziehung, eine Freundschaft entsteht. Doch das Glück ist fragil, bald mischen sich seltsame Untertöne in die häusliche Idylle. Die Waschmaschine läuft, obwohl niemand sie angestellt hat, die Nachbarn melden sich zu Wort. Valentina verschwindet tagelang.
