Meanwhile, Jean has been assigned by her church's Young Helps group to clean house and assist the mysterious woman who lives by herself in the big, spooky house on a lonely and dark street. In the second book of the Peabody series, Scruggs finds himself caught in the middle of a ring of international spies, and they are trying to get rid of a stolen piece of technology. He has to decide who to trust among the strangers he meets, and he has to rely on his wits and courage as he tries to find a way back to the home he has longed for in Peabody, Wisconsin.
