Part-time reporter and mom of four, Lucy Stone keep getting drawn into investigating mysterious murders in these delightfully cozy, holiday-centered mysteries set in New England.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, her silver wedding anniversary, a dream vacation - it seems that every special occasion brings another baffling murder for Lucy Stone. A full-time mom of four with a part-time job reporting for the local pennysaver, Lucy has a nose for news - and a sharp eye for hidden clues. Against the backdrop of holiday festivities and small town life in Tinker’s Cove, Maine, this cozy series keeps the dead bodies coming - whether tucked in a pumpkin patch, linked to toxic eggnog, or dressed as the Easter Bunny. Clever plot twists, eccentric characters, and apt comments on contemporary American life add to the fun. Then, there’s Lucy’s knack for persuading people to open up and confess.

Karen White’s voice gives us a warm and spirited portrayal of Lucy Stone. An AudioFile “best of” narrator across multiple genres and years, White captures Lucy’s kindness, feistiness, and persistence. She also differentiates a range of characters, making each one unique and interesting, while skillfully navigating each mystery’s turns, tensions, tragedy, and hilarity.

Leslie Meier was studying for her certification to teach high school English when the professor of a required course, writing and the teaching of writing, suggested that one of her papers was good enough to be published. She sent it off to Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, got $100 for the story, and has been writing ever since. (The teaching, however, didn’t work out.) Her Lucy Stone mysteries draw heavily on her experience as a mother of three and her work as a reporter for various weekly newspapers on Cape Cod. (The murders, however, are pure fiction.)
