Twins Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive word in Lontown that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach the southernmost point in the world. Not only that, but he has been accused of stealing fuel before he died! The twins don't believe the news, and they answer an ad to join a new attempt to reach South Polaris. It's their only hope of learning the truth...and salvaging their family's reputation.

The Brightstorm twins are back for more high adventure on the sky-ship Aurora! Eudora Vane has organised an explorer fleet to search for missing adventurer Ermitage Wrigglesworth. Harriet Culpepper and the crew of the Aurora join the mission, certain that the scheming Eudora is up to no good. What is she really looking for? And if she finds it, how can they stop her?

Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm are back home in Lontown and finally settling in after their exhilarating—and secret—adventures in Erythea. Maudie's sky-ak invention is a hit, and Harriet has just announced that she will share her sky-ship's hydroelectric technology. But tensions are brewing.
