Vince Treadwell

Set in Brighton over the bank-holiday weekend of 1964, an ambitious and handsome young detective named Vince Treadwell is sent down to solve a murder and catch the elusive and powerful gangster Jack Regent. In the tangled web of the crime, Vince falls for Jack's beautiful girlfriend, Bobbie LaVita, and discovers the truth about their own dark past.

Vince Treadwell investigates the seemingly unrelated murders of a playboy aristocrat from Belgravia and a young black nurse from the wrong side of town. It takes the detective to the illegal drinking dens of Notting Hill, the nightclubs of Soho and the exclusive gaming tables of the Montcler Club. As Vince Treadwell digs deeper he finds a world of espionage and corruption where the underworld mixes easily with the aristocracy and no one is innocent.

When Vince Treadwell spots a famous jewel thief in Soho one night, and the next day reads about a daring robbery at the Ritz, he takes it upon himself to investigate the case, as the missing jewels belong to the beautiful French movie star Capucine, with whom Vince is smitten. But it soon leads to murder - and he is the chief suspect...
