Whispering Worlds

Begin the Whispering Worlds series with the adventure that starts it all. Tomorrow Kairo has to stand up in front of his whole class and share "something special about me." The other kids already know what they're bringing. Soccer medals. An ocean painting. Baseball cards. Kairo has a pocket full of interesting rocks and a habit of noticing things nobody else does. Then, on the walk home, he picks up a smooth gray stone for no reason at all. It turns warm in his hand. And a thread of gold appears in the air, thin as a spider's silk, and leads him off the sidewalk into a forest that has gone strangely, completely silent. Something is wrong in the Grove. The Listening Trees have fallen silent, and without their whispers the forest is slowly forgetting itself. Even Kairo's ordinary gray stone has begun humming a lullaby he almost remembers. Guided by an unlikely root rabbit named Bramble and a Whisperbark with plenty to say, Kairo sets out to solve it. He guesses. He chases. He gets it wrong, then wrong again. Until he discovers that some answers only come to those willing to listen. In Whispering Worlds, the greatest adventures don't belong to the strongest children. They belong to the ones who notice what everyone else misses. Perfect for readers ages 6–9, The Humming Stone is a cozy fantasy adventure about curiosity, belonging, and discovering that the things that make you different may be exactly what the world needs. A read-aloud children will ask for again and again, and grown-ups will quietly enjoy too. Follow the thread.
