Abhishek Choudhary is a bilingual writer, best known for his two-part study of the former Indian prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. The first volume, Vajpayee: The Ascent of the Hindu Right, 1924–1977, won the 2023 Tata Literature First Book Award and was named a notable book of the year by The Hindu, The Telegraph, and Frontline. The second volume, Believer’s Dilemma: Vajpayee and the Hindu Right’s Path to Power 1977–2018, came out in July 2025. A fellow of the New India Foundation and a grantee of the Robert B. Silvers Foundation, his work draws on extensive archival research and has been featured or reviewed in the BBC, Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, and elsewhere. He lives in Delhi.
