Alexander Larman's latest book, Lazarus: The Second Coming of David Bowie, was published by New Modern in January 2026 to critical acclaim. The first book to deal with the second half of Bowie's life and career, it was hailed upon release by The Times as 'sensitive, witty and often very affecting', and was an Amazon popular music bestseller. His previous six books include the acclaimed 'Windsors trilogy' of The Crown in Crisis, The Windsors at War and Power and Glory; biographies of Lord Rochester (Blazing Star) and Lord Byron (Byron's Women); and a social history of the year 1666, Restoration. He is the books editor of the Spectator World magazine and theatre critic of The Critic. writes regularly about literature, history and the arts for publications including The Times, The Critic, BBC History Magazine, The Spectator, Telegraph and the Observer. He lives in Oxford and London with his wife Nancy and daughter Rose.
