Angela Joy was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. Before graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota, she attended New York University and Spelman College. Based in Los Angeles, Angela traveled extensively as a background vocalist, also working in television and movie soundtracks. Currently, she writes for young people in Southern California with a focus on African American history and culture. Her upcoming book, CHOOSING BRAVE: HOW MAMIE TILL-MOBLEY AND EMMETT TILL SPARKED THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, has been selected as a 2022 Junior Library Guild Book. Release date: 9/6/2022.
