Angus Shaw is a Zimbabwean author, journalist and veteran foreign correspondent whose remarkable career has placed him at the heart of some of Africa’s most turbulent events.

Born and raised in Rhodesia, he began his career as a young newspaper reporter before being conscripted into the Rhodesian Bush War, where he experienced the conflict both as a journalist and a soldier.

After the war, Shaw went on to spend decades reporting from across Africa. His assignments took him from Idi Amin’s Uganda to Somalia, Liberia and Rwanda, where he witnessed revolution, dictatorship, civil war and genocide at first hand.

His writing draws upon a lifetime spent close to the people and events that shaped modern Africa, combining the eye of an experienced journalist with the memories of someone who was actually there.

Now based in Zimbabwe, Angus Shaw writes with candour, humour and an eyewitness perspective that brings an extraordinary period of African history vividly to life.
