Ann Van Hine, also known as Miss Ann, was born in Oxford, England, and grew up in Oklahoma, Utah,
Arizona, and New Jersey before making her home in Brooklyn, New York. She is the widow of FDNY
Firefighter Bruce Van Hine, who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Ann is a mother of two grown daughters, a grandmother, a retired small business owner, a published writer,
and a breast cancer survivor. She has served as a docent at the 9/11 Tribute Museum, sharing her firsthand
experience with visitors from around the world.

Since September 11, 2001, Ann has had numerous opportunities to share the story of God's presence and
peace as she navigated a personal loss in the midst of a national tragedy. She has shared her story across
the United States and internationally in Ireland, Belgium, England, and Japan.

Ann believes that the stories of September 11, 2001, are like a mosaic. They do not fit together like a puzzle.
Instead, they lay next to each other to form the larger narrative of what happened that day and since.
Pieces Falling is her personal account of navigating grief, raising two daughters alone, and finding hope
through faith and family after the world changed forever.
