Brian A. Sharpless is a licensed psychologist, researcher, and author with interests in unusual psychological disorders, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and the history and philosophy of clinical psychology. He received a PhD in clinical psychology and MA in philosophy from Pennsylvania State University and completed clinical and research post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sharpless has over 50 professional publications including three books available through Oxford University Press. His first popular press book, Monsters on the Couch: The Real Psychological Disorders Behind your Favorite Horror Movies was released through Chicago Review Press in 2024. He is currently under contract for his fifth book with Guilford Press. In addition to his research interests, he maintains a clinical practice in the greater Washington, DC area and is a frequent lecturer in the US and abroad.
