CHARLIE PEACOCK is a Grammy® Award-winning music producer, recording artist, and author. His memoir, Roots & Rhythm: A Life in Music (Eerdmans, 2025), was praised by Variety as "absorbing and exquisitely written" and by T Bone Burnett as "an unblinking, truthful, and kind look at a long life in music." Once Concealed, Now Revealed is Charlie's debut novel. Named by Billboard's Encyclopedia of Record Producers as one of the 500 most important producers in music history, Charlie's five-decade career spans work with Switchfoot, The Civil Wars, Béla Fleck, Chris Cornell, Amy Grant, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and hundreds more. His credits range from No. 1 Billboard debuts and the 12 Years a Slave soundtrack to "Hush," the title theme to the AMC drama Turn: Washington's Spies, featuring Joy Williams and The National's Matt Berninger. Jazz collaborations include John Patitucci, Chris Potter, Turtle Island Quartet, and Kirk Whalum. A polymath, Charlie has seamlessly moved between the recording studio, the executive suite, Silicon Valley, and the academy-founding Lipscomb University's Commercial Music Program, cofounding Art House America and the Wedgwood Circle, founding the Universal Music imprint Re:Think, and serving as an A&R executive at EMI and Sony/ATV. Charlie's paternal ancestors, the Ashworths, were a prominent free Black family in antebellum Texas whose remarkable story is recorded in numerous works of American history, including Frederick Law Olmsted's A Journey Through Texas (1857). Charlie lives in Nashville with his wife, author Andi Ashworth. Together they are active grandparents, working artists, and students of the Anglican tradition, committed to advancing an ethic and way of being centered on love, nonviolence, justice, and generative imagination and creativity. The couple are coauthors of Why Everything That Doesn't Matter, Matters So Much: The Way of Love in a World of Hurt (W Publishing/HarperCollins, 2024).
