Charlotte was always fascinated with Egyptology, even as a child, and it seemed like natural progression that she would go to study it at University. She started in 1995 at Birkbeck with a diploma and then progressed to UCL to get a BA and MA and then finally her PhD from Birmingham in 2018. During that time she spent a lot of time writing the books about Egyptology she wanted to read, or approaching popular topics from new angles. In 2014 she decided that she no longer wanted to be an Egyptologist and retrained as a journalist, and then ultimately started her own copywriting business. She now offers writing programmes for non-fiction writers and writes books and articles on things other than Egypt.
