Cindy Gentry is a native of Sacramento, California and has lived in several lovely Northern California cities (plus a few that weren’t so great to be honest). After graduating with a degree in Human Development, minors in English and Education, and receiving her teaching credential from the University of California at Davis, she spent 32 years teaching, mentoring, writing grants, and coordinating peer education and homeless student services. She was twice nominated for Teacher of the Year. A few years ago, she became an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, joining fellow clerical alumni such as Sir Paul McCartney, Stephen Colbert, and Lady Gaga, and began posting weekly encouragement, humor, and inspiration posts on a private Facebook group page. Her readers urged her to compile these sermons into an interactive year-long readers’ journey and so Sermons on the Couch was born. When she’s not writing, Cynthia is whipping up her famous spaghetti sauce, singing in the car, nailing the lyrics and most of the notes, working on craft projects that she may or may not finish, and daydreaming about travel. In preparation for her next highly-anticipated trip to Europe, she has been mispronouncing words in French and Italian, sure to be mistaken for an addlepated tourist, even without wearing socks under her sandals.
