I grew up singing hymns and learning the big Bible stories and hearing about God. But from experiencing a few tragedies through the years, it seemed to me that God cared more about his own glory and will than he did about the people he made. But one day, through a prayer experience, Jesus met me in an entirely real and personal way and exploded all of my categories for what God must be like. He played hide and seek with me. It might sound sacrilegious or unimportant to you, but it was exactly what I needed to help me understand that God must be unimaginably more than the stoic unfeeling majesty I had always pictured. And so I set out on a journey to get to know the God of the Universe, revealed in the flesh and blood humanity of Jesus, and with me today and every day in the presence of the Holy Spirit. I learned about God's great delight in all of creation, including me. I dug deeper into understanding the context of confusing verses and started reading through the lens of joyful connection and attachment with God. And everything changed. When I write, I invite you to step into the possibility that God is better than you may have been told. God likes you - for real. He invites you into the family and gives you important ways to contribute to the family business. And all along the way, your Good Shepherd is calling you home into the Pasture, where you lack absolutely nothing.
