Damien Tiller writes dark epic fantasy.

He was born in Portsmouth to working-class parents. His childhood was chequered at best and marred with emotional trauma. After his home life fell apart, he spent his teen years living in a squat in Boscombe and witnessed things no one should have to see. It was not the sort of start that suggested a career in writing, but it was one that built a need for escapism.

He found comfort in writing as a way to get out from under his own demons. His first novel, A Winter's Child, was published in 2004 and picked up some accolades. Dragon's Blight followed in 2013, along with his first book signing, in Blue Town in Kent. This small, intimate setting was a far cry from the large signings he would later do across the UK, including London ComiCon. Dragon’s Blight was his first bestseller, reaching 3rd in Epic Fantasy on Amazon in 2020, and 1st in 2024.

He has since come to terms with most of the demons, releasing them across his books, little by little, and he now lives in Devon, where he spends most of his time when he is not working outdoors among the animals, and writes with Bernard curled up beside him.

The worlds he builds are still hard places, and the people in them still have to earn whatever they get. For a demon is never quiet forever, and they still need taming every now and again.

His latest series, Shadows of Dorchaile, starts with ‘Brothers Sidhe', which is out on 1 October 2026.
