Dr. Weill is the former Director of the Center for Advanced Lung Diseases and the Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant Program at Stanford University Medical Center. He now provides assistance to transplant programs across the country that seek his advice about how to improve the delivery of transplant care. In addition to his practice specializing in advanced lung diseases, Dr. Weill has testified in the United States Senate twice, before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He has also testified before the Texas State Legislature regarding legislation addressing the handling of asbestos and silica claims. Dr. Weill has been the author of book chapters discussing the asbestos related diseases and was the lead researcher of a study involving asbestos exposure, radiographic analysis, and pulmonary function evaluation of members of the Libby, MT community. In 2017, Dr. Weill was the Chair of a conference regarding elongated mineral particles in Monticello, Virginia. The Monticello Conference attracted 60 of the top scientists around the world, and the Conference proceedings are published in a special issue of Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology for which Dr. Weill serves as the Managing Guest Editor. He is currently the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association, a role that involves evaluating the health risk posed by a variety of exposures. Dr. Weill also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of GlycosBio, a company dedicated to providing innovations in nutritional care for patients with serious medical issues and has recently joined the Board of TransMedics, a company focused on organ care systems in the transplantation space. In addition, he serves on a variety of non-profit boards, including the Board of Governors of Tulane Medical School, the Isidore Newman School, NextGen Personal Finance, Elevate USA, KatyCares, and the Rosemary Beach Property Owners Association. Dr. Weill and his wife Jackie live in New Orleans with their two daughters, Hannah and Ava.
