Dr Chloe Paidoussis Mitchell is a Greek-British Chartered Counselling Psychologist, academic and author, and the founder of The Grief Clinic in London - a specialist practice for people living with loss and the trauma of grief.

She has spent twenty-five years humanising loss. In a culture that medicalises sorrow and hurries the grieving back to functioning, she has argued - in the consulting room, the lecture theatre and the boardroom - that grief is not a pathology to be treated but a human experience to be accompanied, and that recovery is holistic: mind, body, heart, spirit and soul all need sustenance. Her promise to anyone whose life has turned harsh, frightening or bleak is that there is a way through, and a life well lived waiting on the other side of it - anchored in meaning, purpose and connection.

That conviction runs through her book, "The Loss Prescription: A Practical Roadmap to Grief Recovery": therapeutic prescriptions, drawn from her practice, for finding meaning again when life feels uncertain, adrift and unfair.

Much of her work concerns invisible loss - the losses that arrive without a funeral or a witness: health, identity, fertility, estrangement, the future you had assumed. She gives keynotes on invisible loss and high-functioning distress, and consults across the corporate world, helping organisations recognise the grief their people carry in silence. Her clients include Goldman Sachs, Allen & Overy, Freshfields and Clyde & Co.

Dr Chloe is a Lecturer at The Existential Academy and at The New School of Psychotherapy & Counselling in London, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and an academic author published in traumatic bereavement and existential therapy by Routlegde. She supervises clinicians and PhD candidates researching grief, and has taught mental fitness and resilience on the Cambridge University Executive MBA.

She has appeared on CNN, BBC Radio 2's Breakfast Show and BBC Radio 4, and on podcasts including Stompcast, Grief Is My Superpower, Thriving Minds, We Don't Talk Enough, Love Purpose Connection and Live Well Be Well, and has written for The Huffington Post, The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian. In 2022 she led the Guardian Masterclass "How to cope with grief and loss".

She is now writing her second book, "The Stranger Within", about why a life that looks fine can stop feeling like yours. She lives in London.
