Dr. Doug Mader is a triple board-certified veterinary specialist and has been a veterinarian for over three decades. He is the consulting veterinarian for the Monroe County Sheriff's Zoo, the Key West Aquarium, the Key West Butterfly Conservancy, the Sea Turtle Hospital, Aquarium Encounters, the Everglades Alligator Farm and the Key Deer Refuge. Dr. Mader is an internationally acclaimed lecturer and is on the review boards of several scientific journals. His many awards include the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Conservation award, The Fred L. Frye Lifetime Achievement Award in Veterinary Medicine, the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Achievement Award and the U.C. Davis Lifetime Achievement Award. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals, newspapers and magazines, and is the author of three Veterinary textbooks. Dr. Mader’s first book for the general audience is the award winning, best selling “The Vet at Noah’s Ark - Stories of Survival from an Inner-city Animal Hospital.” His most recent book is “The Vet from the Urban Jungle.” Dr. Mader practiced in California for many years, but today lives and works in the Florida Keys.
