Elly Flippen is an author and researcher whose work explores human perception, awareness, and the ways experience takes shape before conscious thought. Her writing spans experiential, conceptual, and narrative forms, with a particular focus on perceptual literacy: how noticing, meaning, and interpretation emerge in real time.
Growing up in close proximity to her uncle, artist and remote viewing pioneer Ingo Swann, Elly had a rare, first-hand view of his creative life, perceptual research, and the remarkable community of artists, scientists, psychics, and seekers who gathered around him. As she often jokes, she served as Ingo's "sous chef, bodega shopping bag carrier, manila folder labeler, fax machine fixer, phone screener, door buzzer answer-er, dishwasher...and niece." Those years provided an intimate perspective on his creative process, meticulous working habits, spontaneous psychic experiences, and lifelong exploration of human consciousness.
Elly has played a central role in preserving and documenting Ingo Swann's artistic and intellectual legacy. Working alongside her mother, she has helped place his artwork and archives with institutions including the American Visionary Art Museum, the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, ONE Archives at USC, Edgar Cayce's A.R.E., and the University of West Georgia. Together, they also established fellowships and scholarships at the University of West Georgia to encourage future research into consciousness, perception, and exceptional human experiences.
She also manages the Ingo Swann estate's website and social media, sharing his work with new generations of readers, artists, and researchers.
Elly earned her bachelor's degree from Vassar College and her MBA from Columbia University. Through her writing and research, she continues to investigate the frontiers of perception, consciousness, and the extraordinary capacities of the human mind.
