Emmet Hirsch, MD is a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist in Evanston, Illinois and a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He is author of the novels The Wolf Shall Dwell with the Lamb and The Education of Doctor Montefiore. Emmet's short stories and reflections on medical practice have been published in a number of professional, literary and lay publications. He is an active researcher with over 65 scientific publications focusing on various topics, including the molecular pathophysiology of preterm labor and, in the clinical realm, the achievement of safe vaginal delivery. Dr. Hirsch lives in Skokie, Illinois, with his wife and whichever of his four children, three in-law children, and one grandchild happens to be around.
