“Leave Your Phone At The Door” is based on the OFFLINE concept I created over 15 years ago. At its core, OFFLINE is a celebration of the virtues of randomness and serendipity and every couple of months I hosted a dinner in London for 30-35 attendees, all ages, all backgrounds, boys and girls. Perhaps it might include you too on a future occasion! It was an invitation to cast aside mobile devices for the evening and it had a transformative effect. People engaged face to face and experienced the joy of communicating personally rather than remotely. And that feeling is always enhanced when shared over food! It was a reminder of what makes us human and this book is an embodiment of that philosophy. As for the rest of my life, I am nearly 63, based in London, although quite widely travelled, and possess a background partly in the art world. Cultured, creative and curious, I am fascinated by people, places and ideas so I always seek to connect the dots. The book broadly reflects my view of the world so I hope it takes you down some unexpected but rewarding paths!
