Jack Probyn is a British crime author, known for the DC Jake Tanner series. He was born and raised in Essex, UK, and grew up loving books. His favourite books when he was younger included Harry Potter, Alex Rider, and Darren Shan's Demonata series. He vividly remembers coming home after school and writing his own versions of the stories he'd read. At the age of eighteen, he moved out to study for a degree in English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of Surrey. During the course, he ventured into London for a placement year, and during the daily commute into London, DC Jake Tanner and the explosively thrilling plot behind his first-ever book, Standstill, were born. Since then, he has gone on to write a total of twenty books that have delighted fans across the world. He still lives in Surrey and is working on another series set in his hometown. He currently lives with his partner and their cat, Tommy, who has yet to feature in any of Jack's novels. When he's not writing, Jack can be found indulging in a devilish sudoku or two or watching football. His favourite team is Arsenal, whom he hopes to see lift the Premier League trophy at least once more in his life.
